On mountains and emotions

I'm not sure if it originates from eastern philosophy or spirituality, but comparing one's self to a mountain and one's thoughts to clouds seems to be a widespread thing. I was thinking about it this morning. My thoughts can occasionally be accompanied by strong emotions, so strong that they sometimes tear at me to the point where I've worried I can't contain them, or that I'll break if they continue to be so strong. The cloud analogy feels a bit too soft to reflect this.

I've concluded that I may well be a mountain, but sometimes a jet stream passes over its peak. Jet streams are fast flowing air currents in the atmosphere, which can reach speeds of over 400 km/h. While the jet stream still may be brutal, it's some solace to know that my base is still solid rock (an enduring core personality of sorts, with relatively stable core values).
